# Table

Edit cells, rows, columns, and Markdown table alignment.

import ContentEditor from '@/components/editor/ContentEditor.astro';

## Insert and edit a table

Insert a table from the `/` menu and type directly in its cells. Use the controls around the table to add rows or columns. Row and column menus provide insertion and removal actions; the column menu also controls alignment.

## Edit in Visual

Edit cells in place, then switch to Source to inspect the table structure and alignment markers.

<ContentEditor content="table" />

```markdown
| Page         |  Status   | Owner |
| :----------- | :-------: | ----: |
| Introduction |   Ready   |   Ana |
| Installation | In review |   Ben |
```

## Keep the structure simple

Markdown tables have a header row and use separator markers for column alignment. Use them for short text, links, and inline formatting. Complex layouts and merged cells do not have a standard Markdown table representation.

Check Source after changing the structure. Use an MDX component or authored HTML in Source when your website needs a more complex table, and verify that rendering in the website preview.
