# Your first guide

A place for the things your team learns.
An illustrative file layout, not a live workspace.

Your files. A shared place to write.

Work with your docs Collection

Scan supported docsLoader and docsSchema configuration. Common page properties become editable fields in your workspace.

Give pages a place in the sidebar

With a confirmed navigation binding, add pages to existing writable groups and reorder supported manual items. Automatic groups follow your file paths.

Review content and navigation together

See the changed document and affected sidebar configuration in the publication diff before committing or opening a pull request.

From your repository to your workspace.

  1. 01

    Connect your documentation repository

Authorize GitHub and scan the Astro application that uses Starlight.

  2. 02

    Confirm Docs and its navigation

Check the detected docs Collection and supported sidebar binding before importing the workspace.

  3. 03

Write a guide and review its placement

Edit the page, choose a supported navigation placement, and review all affected files before publication.

What to know before you connect

Native sidebar support is verified for Starlight 0.37.x and supported static configuration. Unknown versions or dynamic sidebar expressions may require content-only publication. Moving a navigation item does not move its Markdown file. Complex frontmatter remains in Source.

Published content stays in your Git repository.

Drafts stay in Prosefly until you publish. Review your changes, then create a commit or pull request. Your existing website build handles deployment.
