Published content remains in your repository.[^ownership]
[^ownership]: Uploaded media is stored separately and referenced by URL.Edit a footnote visually
Select an inline footnote reference to open its controls. You can edit the definition or change the reference label. Definition content can contain supported formatting. Use Source to check repeated references and more complex definitions.
Use a stable identifier such as ownership, and make sure the corresponding definition exists. The editor represents the reference and definition separately; how footnotes appear on the published page depends on your website’s Markdown processing.
